Early Renaissance Galleries of the Uffizi, Firenze The early Renaissance galleries follow on from the Gothic galleries. They permit the visitor to appreciate the development of geometry and perspective during the early 15th century. Whereas some of the pictures may seem cold experiments in form and arrangement, there are also many gems such as this deeply touching picture of the Madonna and Child with Angels by Filippo Lippi. The artist uses a standard biblical theme and the new techniques of modelling figures through the use of perspective in order to create a masterly study of feminine beauty and motherly love. © 2007 LACT Limited.
