Venetian School in the Uffizi, Firenze

Some of the High Renaissance rooms are dedicated to Renaissance artists from elsewhere in Europe such as the Venetian School which is represented by Correggio, Bellini, Carpaccio and Mantegna.

This picture of the Adoration of the Magi by Andrea Mantegna was painted in 1461 for the altar of the chapel of the Ducal Palace in Mantua. The artist uses the same techniques first developed by Florentine artists of inserting realistic figures against a background deepened by the skilful use of perspective.
