Colossal Statue of Constantine in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome The head, one foot and one hand of a 4th century colossal marble statue of Constantine, the first Christian Emperor of Rome, are displayed in the Palazzo dei Conservatori . The head alone is 2 metres and sixty centres tall. The statue represents a significant departure from the realism of earlier Roman art towards the more stylised if austere approach of the early Christian period, intended to convey an aura of saintliness. © 2007 LACT Limited.
