Hercules with the Apples of Hesperides in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome

This bronze Roman statue depicts Hercules clutching apples from the garden of Hesperides, a mythical garden tended by nymphs whose fruits were said to grant eternal life. One of the labours of Hercules was to find the garden and steal its apples.
