The Palazzo dei Conservatori The Palazzo dei Conservatori is on the right of the Piazza del Capidoglio as the visitor approaches from Michelangelo's ramp, the Cordonata. The palace, which forms part of the Capitoline museums complex, was designed by Michelangelo in the 1540's. The palace is notable for its massive Corinthian pilasters and ionic columns which support lintels instead of arches. The impressive middle window, crowned by a triangular gable, was added by Giacomo della Porta who completed the construction of the palace after Michelangelo's death in 1564. © 2007 LACT Limited.
