Palazzo Senatorio The ramp known as the Cordonata which climbs the Capitoline Hill terminates at the piazza del Campidoglio which is dominated by the Palazzo Senatorio. The palazzo, the headquarters of the Rome municipal authority, was also designed by Michelangelo, and was constructed on the ruins of a far older Roman building, the Tabularium, once used as the ancient imperial archive. © 2007 LACT Limited.
